From Clean Techica feature on Closure of 1 gW coal plant

The renewable especially rooftop solar panels is about to claim its latest victim at NSW in Australia - the 980 mW - the Mallerawang coal plant in 2014.  Some 3 mW of traditional technology power gen has been closed already: 700 mW in Tarong in Queensland, Collins also in Queensland,  Playford and Northern power station in Southern Australia,  and the Munmuroah power station in NSW.

Coal fired power gens are feeling the pinch of carbon pricing, including the changing market conditions:  reduced demand and competition from rooftop solar panels
